HOISINGTON — Bertha Mae Martin, 91, died May 16, 2022, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kan. She was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Broken Arrow, Okla., the daughter of Arnold and Carolina (Reinhardt) Kunze. Bertha was a graduate of Broken Arrow High School.
On Dec. 11, 1949, she married Leon L. Martin in Broken Arrow, Okla. He died June 3, 2010.
A Barton County resident since 1952, Bertha was a homemaker and cashier at Town & Country Supermarket for 26 years. She was a member of Emmanual Lutheran Church, Emmanuel Sewers, Clara Barton Foundation, Clara Barton Hospital Auxiliary, Clara Barton Pink Ladies and the Kan Colo Credit Union.
She is survived by four children Shari (Craig) Weeks of Topeka; Jozet (Mike) Littrell of Hoisington, Mark (Sandy) Martin of Hoisington, and Alesia (Tim) Roccia of Ballwin, Mo.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kunze of Broken Arrow, Okla., and seven grandchildren, Aaron (Kali Brazeel) Weeks of Dallas, Texas, Kara (Kim) Gardner of Hoisington, Ami (Heath) Klein of Atwood, Amber (Derek) David of Hoisington, and Justin (Samantha) Martin of Hoisington, Alison Hanners and Blake Hanners of Ballwin, Mo.; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolina Kunze; father and stepmother, Arnold and Erna Kunze; and two brothers, Richard and Arnold “Buddy” Kunze.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, Reverend Wayne Baldyga and Rhonda Templing SAM, presiding. Burial will follow at Hoisington City Cemetery.
