Betty J. Patterson 1930-2011
HOISINGTON — Betty J. Patterson, 80, died at the Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood.
She was born May 5, 1930 at Beaver, Kan., the daughter of Henry and Mirla (Colhour) Phillips.
She married Junior Lee Patterson Sept. 24, 1948, at Beaver. He preceded her in death September 9, 2010. She taught elementray school for 40 years in Barton County and Hoisington USD 431 before retiring in 1989. She was a longtime Hoisington resident moving from Beaver. She was a former member of the Friends Church at Beaver and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hoisington.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Patterson, Ogallah, Kan.; John Paterson , Wamego; a stepbrother, Lloyd Bryan, Huntington Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; stepfather, Jim Bryan; a brother, Lloy Phillips and a sister, Darlene Rowley.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Hoisington Cemetery with Officiant Rev. Dick Ogle. Interment will be at the Hoisington Cemetery.
