HOISINGTON - Betty Jean Smith, 92, passed away September 26, 2020, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington.  She was born January 31, 1928, in Hoisington to James and Clarissa (Larkin) Carroll.  She married Calvin Smith April 5, 1948, in Hoisington.  Calvin passed away August 15, 2005.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Betty was a devoted, loving child care provider for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Ladies VFW Auxiliary in Hoisington.  

Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Smith, and Dee Ann Smith and husband Gary, all of Hoisington, and Rhonda Dezotell and husband Steven of Haysville; six grandchildren, Gary Dezotell, Brian Dezotell, Chelsey Smith, Presley Smith, Delaney Smith and Addison Smith; and four great grandchildren, Sage Dezotell, Satchel Dezotell, Harley Dezotell and Ava McCullick.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ron Smith; two grandsons, Doug Dezotell and Chad Dezotell; three brothers, Bill Carroll, Pete Carroll and James Carroll; and four sisters, Geneva Carroll, Edith King, Irene Hickey and Ruby Farnsworth. 

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Dezotell officiating.  Interment will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington.  Visitation will be Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.  Memorials may be given to Eldercare or Meals on Wheels, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544
