SALINA — Beverly Gene Salmon, 82, died June 16, 2018 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born July 19, 1935 in Salina, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Parker) Trapp. She was a music educator; substitute teacher; served in several Kansas churches; and worked in the Ecumenical Institute/Institute of Cultural Affairs, which took her around the world. She graduated from Salina Central and then from Kansas Wesleyan University with a Music Education degree. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the church choir, bell choir, and UMW. Bev loved music! The harp society was a special joy for her as well as the Salina Civic Choral. Volunteering at the hospital was another priority for her.
Beverly is preceded in death by a son, Wesley Salmon (‘83).
On June 3, 1956 Beverly married William E. Salmon in Salina’s First Christian Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Jana (Mike) Lamb (Macksville), and Julie (Shannon) Gregg (Great Bend), and 5 grandsons: Matthew Lamb (Pittsburg), Keith Lamb (Macksville), Ben Gregg (Great Bend), Zach Gregg (Langley AFB), and Alex Gregg (Great Bend). One sister also survives, Colleen Jane (Kent) Hurlburt (Florida).
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina, with Pastor Barry Dundas presiding. A time of fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the Salina Civic Choral.
