Cecil Raymond Steffen 1927 - 2011

BURDETT — Cecil Raymond Steffen, 84, died Aug. 16, 2011 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned.
He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Larned, the son of Elmer Raymond and Gladys Mae Shockey Steffen.  
A lifetime resident of rural Burdett, he was a farmer/stockman. On Aug. 13, 1950, he married Leora Lou Lyman at Burdett. She survives.
Mr. Steffen attended United Methodist Church in Burdett. He was board member of Midwest Energy for 26 years. He served on the Pawnee Heights school board member and was the first president of the Pawnee Heights School District Burdett-Rozel. He was a board member of the Kansas Hereford Association and Pawnee County 4-H Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Leora Lou Steffen; three daughters, Louise and husband Mark Templin, Andover; Janet and husband Bill Fleske, Pawnee Rock; and Susan and husband Jim Snodgrass, Rozel; a brother, Leon Steffen, Burdett; five grandsons, Brian Fleske, Mark Fleske, Henry Snodgrass, Charles Snodgrass and Marcus Luke Templin; six great-grandchildren, Madison Fleske, Jordan Fleske, Brooklyn Fleske, Mason Fleske, Lane Snodgrass and Lauryn Snodgrass.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the United Methodist Church in Burdett, with Pastor Brad McCoy presiding. Burial will be at Browns Grove Cemetery in Burdett.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Morell Funeral Home in Larned.
