Charles F. "Chuck" Edwards, 96, died April 9 at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born Jan. 13, 1915 at Washington, D.C., he was the son of Charles Frederick and Mary (Faunce) Edwards. In 1936 he graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a degree in political science. A resident of Great Bend since 1957, coming from Garden City, he was retired as vice-president for Central Telephone and Utility. He was an avid golfer and trap shooter. He loved reading, taking a special interest in history and political science.

Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Edwards-Hill and husband Frank, of Olympia, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Collin Edwards-Hill and Ian Edwards. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Frederick F. Edwards.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with Levi Keenan officiating. A private burial will take place at a later time. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Golden Belt Community Foundation, both in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
