Charles “Rusty” Huntington, 61, died Dec. 26 at his home in Great Bend. Born Aug. 2, 1952 at Cocoa Beach, Fla., he was the son of Charles Otho and Mary Elaine (Schwartz) Huntington.
He married Alicia Blodgett May 23, 1991 at St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked for Sprint for 27 years and most recently was a substitute teacher for USD 428, Great Bend. Mr. Huntington was a Great Bend resident for five years, coming from Olathe. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia Huntington, of the home; two sons, John Huntington and his wife Paige of Yukon, Okla., and Ryan Huntington of Hoisington; daughter Beth Elliott and her husband Jason of Olathe, and five grandchildren: Ethan Elliott, Abigail Elliott, Isaac Elliott, Jada Huntington, and Neely Huntington. He is also survived by his parents, father Charles Otho Huntington, Onawa, Iowa, and Elaine Huntington, Wilmington, Del.; two brothers: James Huntington of Newark, Del., William Huntington of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters: Sherri Huffman of Decatur, Neb., Robin Huntington-Shores of Media, Penn. and his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Kilburn of Wilmington, Del.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend, with Pastor Josh Foster and Pastor Amy Foster officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
