GREENSBURG — Charles Robert Jones, 75, died Dec. 10, 2023, at Trinity Manor, Dodge City, Kan. He was born Nov. 1, 1948, in Mullinville, Kan., the son of Clarence and Marie (Lewis) Jones. A lifetime resident of Greensburg, Kan., Charlie attended Greensburg High School, and was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Disabled by a back injury at an early age, Charlie spent much of his time at the Kiowa County State Fishing Lake and was nicknamed the “Mayor” of the lake. He also spent many hours as the aluminum can buyer in the area.
On Aug. 12, 1979, Charles marries Patricia Flakus in Greensburg. She preceded him in death Feb. 13, 2011.
He is survived by one son Jesse Jones; two daughters Jolena Jones and fiancé Tim Henderson, and Ashli Miller and husband Jamie; five grandchildren Dylan, Damian, Ethan, Sadie and Johnny; four brothers Don, Clayton, Clyde and Clinton Jones; and a sister Dolly Adolph. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Chester Jones.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at the Kiowa County Community Building, Greensburg. A private graveside service will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville.
