Claudie E. "Dolly" Southard, 95, of Great Bend, died Feb. 26 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. She was born May 4, 1915, at Owensboro, Ky., the daughter of Jesse Leroy and Edith Amanda (Jamison) Gough. She married George Wesley Southard on March 2, 1934, at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 26, 1978. A Great Bend resident since 1945, coming from Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Southard was of the First United Methodist Faith, and a member of Tri-Circle ACBL Duplicate Bridge Club.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Dean Southard and wife Mary of Coral Springs, Fla., and Joe Southard and wife Loretta of Great Bend; one daughter, Sharon Erwin and husband Bert of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Lara Marsh, Tanya Horne, Kara Southard, Anthony Southard, Mark Erwin, Jana Erwin-Durfee, Pamela Erwin-Roemer, Lauri Wenberg and Michael Southard; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Gough; two sisters, Edna Myers and Leona Reed; three grandchildren, Steve Erwin, Gregg Erwin and Kathrine Southard; and two great-grandchildren, Kirsten Wenberg and Jonah Erwin.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Tom Sheldon officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood District Hospital Long-term Care Clinic, in care of the funeral home.
