Clay Steffen Schmidt 1960 - 2012

PAWNEE ROCK — Clay Steffen Schmidt, 52, died July 24 at his home in Pawnee Rock. Born June 14, 1960 in Larned he was the son of Jarold and Ruth Petersen Schmidt.  A lifetime area resident, he sold auto parts at Carquest. On March 26, 1983 he married Crystal Davidson in Larned. She survives.
Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, AMA, and the M.A.C.K. flying club.
Other survivors include his parents; two sons, Scott of Larned and Nick of Independence, Mo.; three brothers, Todd of Fort Scott, Curt of Larned and Trent of Tulsa, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with Pastor Patricia Reep presiding. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. A Prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Hospice Care of Kansas or the Peace Lutheran Church both in care of the funeral home.
