SALINA — Curtis T. Smith, 60, of Salina, passed away Dec. 28, 2012, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born May 8, 1952, in Hays, he was the son of Charley T. and Della Lorene (Musselman) Smith. He worked as an engineer with Union Pacific for 41 years. A skilled craftsman, he enjoyed building things, loved to play golf and was politically passionate.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jan, of the home; four sons, Chris Teschke and wife Kristin, of Lenexa, Rob Teschke and wife Chrystie, Charley T. Smith and Samuel Smith, all of Salina; five sisters, Ruthann Smith, of Clearwater, Kay Smith, of Derby, Nadine Wolf, of Wichita, Linda Norman, of Clovis, N.M. and Claudia Smith, of Andover; four grandchildren, Cooper, Maddie, and Abby Teschke and Calahan True Smith, all of Salina; numerous nieces and nephews; and his little girl, Jazzy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Della; two brothers, Dean Smith and Bill Smith; and one nephew, Danny Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Nicholson-Rickie Funeral Home in Hoisington. Graveside services will follow at approximately 2 p.m. at the Fairmount St. Lawrence cemetery in Jetmore. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th, in Salina. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center “Look Good, Feel Better” program or “Autism Cares” in care of Ryan Mortuary or Nicholson-Rickie Funeral Home.
