Dan Ochs Jr., 94, passed away Feb. 24, 2020, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born on Oct. 31, 1925, at Otis, to Dan Ochs Sr. and Violet (Schutler) Ochs. He married Catherine Martin on Sept. 31, 1945, at Hays. She died Nov. 21, 2009.A lifetime Barton and Rush county resident, Dan currently resided in Great Bend. Dan was a farmer and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness’. He served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed farming and chasing the grandkids.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Ochs and wife Stella of Great Bend, and Roy Ochs and wife Julie of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Norma Jean Ochs of Holdrege, Neb., and Donna Smolick and husband Richard of Timken; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wanda Jacobs, and Leona Reinhart; and one grandson, Aaron Ochs.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness’ in Great Bend, with Lewis Smith presiding. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
