Delbert L. Adams Jr. died on Feb. 13, 2017 at Hays Medical Center. He was born Sept. 5, 1961 in Great Bend, the son of Judy (Whithington) and Delbert L. Adams Sr. He married Jill (Hensley) and had a son Dustin (Kirstin-girlfriend) of Seattle Wash. He then had four sons Micheal, Greg, Jamison all of Manhattan, and Dalton of Valley Center with his then companion Jamie.
Delbert attended Great Bend schools and received his diploma later on. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and rode often even after losing a leg. Dustin followed his dad’s love and is a certified Harley mechanic. His spirit individual for sure. Ashlei Ramirez lifelong friend said, “He was an Adams and couldn’t be any more proud than that! He loved harder than he fought and so proud of his boys, his brothers and his Dad. He almost glowed when he talked about his nephews and nieces. And he had my back when no one else did!”
He is survived by his father (Barb - girlfriend) Hoisington and his sons; his brothers Nelson Sr. (Mabel) of Hoisington, and Justin of Pampa, Texas; sisters LaDonna Soto of Louisiana, Sylvia Corpus of Christi, Texas, Shari Bar-Kern of Springfield Ill.; grandchildren Vera and one on the way, of Seattle, and Able Lorenzo of Manhattan; uncles Earl (Careen) of Great Bend, Johnny Adams of Susank, and Freddie Ross (JoAnn) of Dundee; aunts Nadine Erskin of Garden City and Joyce Shelton of Great Bend; nephews Jason (Krissy) of St. Louis, Nelson Jr.(Sarah) of Great Bend, Shawn (Audrey) of Wamego, Alan (Ember) of Great Bend, Easton and Evren Texas; nieces Nina Ward (Justin) of Great Bend, Emily Adams of Hoisington, Ashley Jergenson of Great Bend, Alisha, Shanon and Brandon; many great-nephews and great-nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Greg; his mother; grandmother Mildred Ross; grandpa Waldo Ross; Earl Adams Sr. and his uncle Jim Newkirk.
Funeral is Monday Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. at the First Church of God in Hoisington. Burial will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Delbert was cremated by Yoder Embalming Services. A meal will be served after burial at the Speckle-Belly Lodge 163 Main in Hoisington. Memorials in care of The First Church of God in Hoisington. Condolences can be left on his Facebook page.
