DeSales Marguerite Sally Marmie 1924 - 2017

DeSales Marguerite “Sally” Marmie, 93, of Great Bend, died Nov. 19, 2017, at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. She was born April 7, 1924, at Wilson, the son of Henry W. and Anna V. (Klepper) Weber. A 1942 graduate of Wilson High School, Sally attended the University of Kansas, then moved to Great Bend in 1944 and was employed by Phillips Oil Co., and later co-owned and operated the Dairy Queen with her husband. She married Robert Keith Marmie Oct. 3, 1951, at Great Bend. He died March 9, 2009.
Mrs. Marmie was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Cosmopolitan Study Club, former board member of St. Patrick Catholic School, and was a retired Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed playing bridge, and was an avid sports fan, particularly of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. In earlier years, she volunteered at St. Patrick Catholic School, and spent many summers boating and fishing with her family, at Cedar Bluff Reservoir.
Survivors include one son, Keith O. Marmie and his wife Rita of Tijeras, N.M.; three daughters, Deanna Marmie of Wichita, Mary Lou Kinsinger and her husband Daryn of Goddard, and Roberta Feist of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Erica Rhoads and husband Mike, Jessica Kinsinger, Jackie Kinsinger and Lauren Feist; and three great-grandchildren, Madalyn Rhoads, Corbin Rhoads and Kennedi Russell. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Weber, Darrell Weber, Marland Weber and Henry Weber, Jr.; and two sisters, Berna Dean Soukup and Marie Weber.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 4 p.m. and Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Ted Stoecklein celebrating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established with Holy Family School Endowment, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
