Diana “Diane” Lee Roat, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 26th, 2022, at home. She was born Feb. 12, 1960 at Wichita, Kan., to James Andrew Roat and Doris Verlea (Lemon) Roat. 

She was a 1978 graduate of Great Bend High School. She was a past correctional officer at GEO Lawton correctional Facility in Lawton, Okla. and later at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility in Larned. Diane was well respected by her coworker as well as the inmates. She was know to run a tight ship. Diane was a certified ventriloquist earning her first “dummy” from the Nazarene Church in Great Bend for memorizing all the Books of the Bible, she was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs Fan and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Doris of rural Seward; a brother, David (Tracy) of Great Bend; two nephews, Jesse Roat (Brittany) of Hoisington and Trenton Roat and companion Kat Allen of Great Bend; and four nieces Kristin Roat of Great Bend, DJ (Nick) Miller of Great Bend, Chelsey West of Hays and Kayla (James) Godfrey of Hoisington; four great nephews and three great nieces; and her fur-babies Boo, Elton and Emma. Diane was proceeded in death by her father, James; two brothers, Jimmy and Darin; a nephew, Travis Roat; and a sister in law Karla J. Roat Neiman.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Serrvice will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeff Johnson presiding. Interment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Hospice or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
