Donald Hess Damon, 81, passed away Oct. 10, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 16, 1939, at Great Bend to Ansel and Margaret (Hess) Damon. He married Kathleen Bittner on March 7, 1963, at Denver, Colo. She survives.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Donald was a truck driver for Orschlen’s for 26 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Great Bend. He enjoyed classic cars, racing and sports. He especially loved to spend time with his family.
Survivors include, his wife, Kathleen Damon of the home; a daughter, Karen Loder and husband Bret of Otis; a brother, Kenneth Damon and wife Trudy of Great Bend; a sister in law, Kathleen Bittner of Hays; one grandson, Brenden Damon and wife Mallory; two great grandchildren, Brantley Damon and Myah Damon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home with Rick Unruh presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Memorials have been suggested to Kans for Kids, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed atwww.bryantfh.net.
