Donald K. Boese

HOISINGTON — Donald K. Boese, 88, died April 16, 2022, at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington. He was born May 10, 1933, in La Crosse, Kan., the son of Peter and Elsa (Ebert) Boese. Don graduated from Alexander High School, Alexander, Kan. He then served in the United States Army as a Private First Class in Korea from 1955 to 1957.  

On April 4, 1954, he married Janet K. Wilson in Garden City, Kan. They moved to Hoisington in 1955. Upon his return from Korea, he accepted a position as a maintenance engineer for Clara Barton Hospital, and worked there for 32 years, retiring in 1995. 

Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was a charter member of the Hoisington Historical Society and a founding and lifetime member of the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation. Don enjoyed and was an accomplished woodworker. 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet Boese of the home; a daughter, Barbara Buchanan (Andy) of Jackson, Ga.; and a son, Brad Boese of Hoisington; five granddaughters, Kristin, Audrey, Samantha, Amanda and Elizabeth; and six great grandchildren, Gage, Ella, Makenna, C.J., James, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Jayne Boese; and two sisters, Ileen Hanhardt and LaVern Huddleston. 

Family will greet friends at 2 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022, at the funeral home and a graveside service will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Lehew presiding. Friends may sign the book today and until service on Friday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
