Douglas “Doug” Edward Stape, 66, passed away July 13, 2021, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. He was born Jan. 1, 1955, at Jeanette, Pa., to Robert and Edna (Wampler) Stape. He married Diane O’Malley Nov. 4, 1993, at Winchester, W.V.
A resident of Great Bend for the last 14 years, Doug was a cook for McDonald’s. He loved to watch wrestling and the Pittsburgh Steelers football. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and listening to music. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Doug especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include, his wife, Diane Stape of the home; a son, Nicholas Stape of Larned; a daughter, Sarah Ankney of Greensburg, Pa.; two brothers, Robert Stape of Tennessee, and Allan Stape and wife Collette of Mich.; and three grandchildren, Maygan, Colleen and Kiara. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 1 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Dodge Veteran’s Cemetery, Dodge City with Military Rites conducted by United States Army Honor Guard and the American Legion 8th District Honor Guard.
