Edna Ellen Ruble, 93, died March 29, 2017, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. She was born April 18, 1923, at Great Bend, the daughter of August Henry and Geraldine Frances (Chaney) Meyer. She married Sidney Ray Ruble Nov. 12, 1942, at Great Bend. He died April 20, 1969. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Ruble was a retired machine operator at Fuller Brush and worked as a cook at American Legion Argonne Post 180 and Elks Lodge No. 1127.
Mrs. Ruble was a member of American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Ruble and his wife Mary Lou of Tomball, Texas, Henry Ruble and his wife Connie of Great Bend, and Mark Ruble of Great Bend; two daughters, Ellen Shanteau and her husband Darrell of St. John, and Geraldine Carper and her husband Chuck of Great Bend; one sister-in-law, Barbara Meyer of Enid, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Kristi, Angela, Amanda, Sean, Sarah, Staci, Brooke, Jennifer and Brett; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Meyer and Frank Meyer; one grandson, Aaron, and twin great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Inurnment will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established with Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home.
