HOISINGTON — Edna L. Gutowski, 95, died Feb. 14, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. She was born June 4, 1920, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Walter and Esther (Hamm) Barnes. A longtime resident of Hoisington, Edna was a homemaker and a cook for Maude’s Colonial House Restaurant for many years where she was famous for her pies and bread rolls. On April 14, 1937, she married Arthur Joseph Dyer. He died on June 5, 1961. She then married Siegfried O. Gutowski on July 8, 1975, at the Hoisington Bible Church parsonage. He died March 9, 2012.
Edna was a member of the Hoisington Bible Church. She was also an avid bowler and belonged to a local league.
She is survived by five children, Donna Marcellus and husband William of Hoisington, Ernie Dyer and wife Jan of Lawrence, Ed Dyer and wife Nan of Healdton, Okla., Marie Johnson and husband Perry of Wellington, Colo., and Cozetta Muth and husband Steve of Salina; three stepchildren, Angie Gutowski of Wichita, Ilona Caster and husband Mitchell G. of Wichita, and Bridget Sanders and husband Frank of Little Rock, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Gerald Dyer; three brothers, Harold, Walter Jr., and Frank Barnes; and a sister, Mary Ellen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at the Hoisington Bible Church, with Pastor Gary Clark presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hoisington Bible Church or Kans for Kids, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
