Edward Ed Dolechek 1948-2012

CLAFLIN — Edward “Ed” Dolechek, 63, died Aug. 28, 2012 at his residence in rural Claflin.
He was born Dec. 4, 1948 at Great Bend, the son of Albert and Kathryn  (Klein) Dolechek
The  lifelong Claflin resident worked as a custom harvester and farmer. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus No. 2630, Odin; former board member USCHI (Custom Harvesting Association); and former board member Holyrood Co-op.
He graduated from Claflin High School in 1967 and started his custom harvesting business in 1971 after graduating from Kansas State University.  He was still in the harvest business with his brother Mike and nephew Dane, and he also farmed.
Survivors include four brothers, Gordon Dolechek and wife Denise, Russell; Don Dolechek and wife Cindy, Albert; Bob Dolechek and wife Diane, Wichita; Mike Dolechek and wife LeAnn, Alden; two sisters, Mary Meis and husband Milton, Shelby, Mont.; Ellen Varney and husband Jim, Seward, Neb.; 15 nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday with Celebrant Father Charles Mazouch at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Dubuque, Kansas. Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday with a vigil service at 7 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus rosary, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Interment will be at St. Catherine Cemetery, Dubuque.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Catherine Heritage Fund or Claflin Ambulance Fund, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Box 146, Hoisington, KS, 67544.
