Elda M. Schroeder 1916-2012

ALBERT — Elda M. Schroeder, 95, died Feb. 21 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born Nov. 20, 1916 at rural Pawnee County, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Gerdes) Hanken.

She married Trois M. Schroeder Oct. 2, 1940 at Albert. He died Dec. 24, 1987.

Mrs. Schroeder was a rural Albert resident most of her life. She was a member of King United Methodist Church, UMW, and volunteered at Central Kansas Medical Center. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Troy Schroeder of Albert; a daughter, Jean Hanks and her husband Jim of Great Bend; four grandchildren, James Hanks III, Steve Schroeder, Tricia Young, Tasha Schroeder; and

five great-grandchildren, McKenna Hanks, Bradley Hanks, Brooke Schroeder, Kyle Schroeder and Cole Schroeder. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Bowman.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Tempero officiating. Interment will be at Albert Community Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial fund is Barton County Relay for Life or King Memorial United Methodist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
