Elva Lucille Petz 1915-2011
OVERLAND PARK — Elva Lucille Petz, 95, died April 8 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home, Overland Park.
Elva was born May 4, 1915, at Rozel, Kansas, the daughter of John L. and Blanche (Ewing) Nairn.
She married Melvin John Petz October 12, 1937, at Ellinwood. He died January 24, 2001. She worked in the school lunch program in Great Bend schools and was a homemaker. Mr. and Mrs. Petz spent most of their lives in Great Bend. They moved to Wichita in 1990 and then Kansas City in 1994. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen McCosh and husband, Kenneth, Hillsdale, Mich.; Patricia Guesnier, Overland Park; Beverly Bruntz and husband, Craig, Overland Park; Lynette Richards and husband, Les, Round Rock, Texas; a brother, Gene Nairn and wife, Earlene, Great Bend; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John Wendell Nairn, Daryl Lynn Nairn, and Loren Nairn; five sisters, Fern Walden, Violettie Schwager, Doris Unruh, Winifred Pierce and Willa Smith; and a grandchild, Thomas Guesnier.
An Altar Society Rosary is scheduled at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 10, at the Bryant Funeral Home. A Vigil Service will start at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bryant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 11 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend with Celebrant Father Peter Fernandez. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 9 p.m., Sunday at the Bryant Funeral Home.
