Elverta Marie Yahne Lawrence, 89, died March 14, at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. She was born Dec. 12, 1924 at Barton County, the daughter of Roy and Lillie (Mische) LeRoy.
She married Gale E. Yahne Sept. 8, 1945 at Great Bend. He died Feb. 9, 1981. She then married Fred “Ted” Lawrence July 30, 1983 at Great Bend. He died June 11, 1989. She was a secretary for Roy J. McMullen, Attorney at Law, Dorsey Brown, County Superintendent of Schools, and was a secretary at Great Bend High School for twenty years. Mrs. Lawrence was a lifetime Barton County resident and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Mini Study Group and Golden Girls, all of Great Bend. She was a long-time 4-H member and leader.
Survivors include three sons: David Yahne of Texas, Bruce E. Yahne of Great Bend, and Mark Yahne and his wife Annie of Cedar City, Utah; two step-sons: Louis Lawrence and wife Barbara of Palatine, Ill.; and William Lawrence and wife Ellen of Oviedo, Fla.; one step-daughter: Susan McDonald and her husband Graham of Peoria, Ariz.; one brother: Glenn LeRoy and his wife Lorna of Midland, Texas; three sisters: Shirley Stephenson of Midland, Texas, Donna Clark of Great Bend, and Marilyn Cooper and her husband Gary of The Villages, Fla.; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Carla Yahne.
Funeral Service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark P. Galbraith officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 17 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
