HOISINGTON — Erma J. Gerritzen, 68, died March 23, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital ER, Hoisington, Kan. She was born April 28, 1953, in LaCrosse, Kan., the daughter of Leonard G. and Grace A. (Sell) Heine. Erma graduated from Hoisington High School in 1971. She later received her Associate Degree of Applied Science in Administration Technology and a certificate in Business Administration Technology from Barton County Community College.

On May 12, 1973, she married Robert L. Gerritzen in Hoisington, Kan., together they had two sons, William and Matthew.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Erma was primarily a homemaker, she raised her two sons and kept the family running making sure everything was taken care of. Erma was a good cook and had worked as a cook for a local nursing home earlier in life. She loved animals and was a dog mom to three dogs, the latest love, Aida. Erma was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society.  

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert L. Gerritzen of the home; and son Matthew of Hoisington; a sister, Shirley Batt of Hoisington; and two brothers, Ronnie (Wanda) Heine of Great Bend, and Wayne (Mary) Heine of Cushing, Okla. She was preceded in death by her son, William Gerritzen; and her parents.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home, with family to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington.
