TEMPE, Ariz. — Eugene (Gene) Louis Meyer died May 5 at his home in Tempe, Ariz. Born July 11, 1928, in Lorraine, he was the son of Harvey and Delia (Mehl) Meyer. On Jan. 1, 1950, he married LorRetta Keyser at Holyrood. She died April 17, 1995. On April 11, 1999, he married Gladys Whitcombe at Tempe, Ariz. He was a Holyrood area farmer, and an accountant and Realtor in the Phoenix, Ariz., area.
Survivors include his wife Gladys; three daughters, Gina (Carl) Bouk of Mesa, Ariz., Debbie (Pete) Lozano of Las Cruces, N.M., and Doreen (Loren) Schultz of Hoisington; one sister, Dorothy (Wilford) Ziekert of Branson, Mo.; two brothers, Norman (Anne) Meyer of Rockford, Ill., and Warren (Sylvia) Meyer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mel Meyer; daughter Karma Frees; and a grandson, Cory Bouk.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Holyrood with Pastor Daniel Harder and Pastor Lloyd Sprick officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter Lutheran Church or East Valley Hospice in care of the church.
