WARRENTON, Va. — Evelyn Ruth Mead, 76, won her battle with cancer and peacefully died on Saturday, Aug. 25,2018 in Warrenton, Va. She was surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born on Jan. 18, 1942 in Beatrice , Neb., Evelyn was blessed to travel and experience the beauty of the United States until finally settling down in the state of Virginia. She shared her love of inspirational sentiments, thoughtfulness and remembrances on both a spiritual and emotional level through her Christian example to others and expanded that example through the very successful ownership of three Hallmark stores in the Northern Virginia area. Her impeccable sense of style and timeless fashion image, combined with the natural beauty of her genuine smile and love for others, makes way for a true blessing to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Mead and her parents Raleigh and Elaine Bristor. She is survived by her sisters Leslie, Brenda (Gary), Peggy; a brother Randy (Susan); daughters Jackie (Rob), Julie (Louie); four grandchildren, Katelyn (Eman), Tyler, Riley, Rachel; a host of nieces and nephews, close friends, neighbors and church family members.

Arrangements are being handled by Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, Virginia. A memorial service will be held on Thursday Aug. 30, 2018, at

4:30 p.m. at Haymarket Baptist Church, with a reception immediately following in the Church Fellowship Hall. Dr. Mark Olson and Rev. Ruth Anne Sawyer will be officiating. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Hospital and Haymarket Baptist Church.
