MUENSTER, Texas — Florence Lorraine Williams, 95, died June 17 at a hospital in Denton, Texas. Born March 14, 1919, in Otis, she was the daughter of Samuel and Martha Moore. On Aug. 12, 1937, she married the love of her life, Arthur Warren Williams. Due to Arthur’s job in the oil fields, the family moved to many places including Garnett, Great Bend and Albert, and Tonkawa, Okla. They finally stopped moving when they arrived in Muenster, Texas, in 1962. She was employed at the family drug store in Albert, at the Dress Factory and at Muenster Memorial Hospital. In her late 40s, she went back to school to be a teacher. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher at Muenster Elementary for 17 years.
Mrs. Williams enjoyed playing the organ at the First United Methodist Church of Saint Jo, Texas. She also loved working the crossword puzzle in the newspaper and quilting. However, her greatest joy was spending time with family.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Sponsel of Wichita; a son, Randy Lee and wife Darlene Williams of Muenster, Texas; daughter-in-law, Janice Williams of Great Bend; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Martha (Brack) Moore; her husband, Arthur Warren Williams; her son, Gary Williams; her brothers, Samuel Moore Jr. and Jimmy D. Moore; and her sister, Alberta Bosch.
