LARNED — Forest Cee Cephus, 65, passed away April 1, 2017, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. Born Aug. 14, 1951, in Smithville, Texas, he was the son of Jonah and Ruth Harris Cephus. On Jan. 26, 1990, he married Lois Shepherd in Dodge City. She survives. A longtime area resident, he was the director of the drug and alcohol addiction program at the Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility.
Mr. Cephus was of the Apostolic Faith.
Other survivors include: three sons, Derrick Smith of Houston, Texas, Yumar Cephus of Winston Salem, N.C., and Nathaniel Jones of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Tiffani Hines of Wichita; four sisters, Patricia Palmer, Linder Jamison, Kathy Jones and Dorothy Richardson; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clifton Louis Cephus and Arthur Lee Cephus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with Elder Timothy Robinson presiding. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned. Memorials may be given to the Apostolic Faith Pentecostal Church in care of the funeral home.
