LEWISVILLE, Texas — Frances “Wilma” French, 98, passed away Feb. 24, 2017, in Lewisville, Texas. Born Sept. 2, 1918, in Hamilton, she was the eldest daughter of Thomas C. and Edith M. (Churchman) Adsmond. She was a long-time resident of Great Bend and an elementary educator of more than 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Schutte of Lewisville, Texas and Ione French of Waller, Texas; one grandson, Christopher Schutte and wife Maria Johnson; two great-grandchildren, August and Astraea Schutte, of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Bertha Adsmond of Poughkeepsie, N.Y..; her brother-in-law/sister-in-law, Theodore and Margaret French of Atlanta, Ga.; and with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of more than 50 years, Herbert W. French; three siblings, Roy T. and Walter D. Adsmond and J. Marie (Adsmond) French; as well as one great-grandson, Sterling A. Schutte (born still).
At Wilma’s request cremation has taken place, and a private burial of her ashes will take place at a time yet to be determined in Great Bend’s Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests no flowers/plants only thoughts and prayers. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Wilma’s honor may do so to a children’s charity of choice or to their local children’s library.
