Fred E. Troyer 1934 - 2015
ELLINWOOD — Fred E. Troyer, 80, went to be with Jesus on Sunday May 3, at Hutchinson Regional Hospital. Born on Nov. 11, 1934, in Hutchinson, he was the son of Jerry W. and Mattie Troyer. On Nov. 22, 1954, he married Karen L. Shumway in Pratt. He was co-owner of Ellinwood Packing Plant since 1977. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, antiques, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Karen; three sons, Bradly and Rachel (Kroulik) Troyer of Osborne, Jeff and Annette (Richardson) Troyer, and Matthew and Tammy (Steiner) Troyer, both of Ellinwood; grandchildren Cescha and Jeff Hoffman, of Pratt, Kalesha and Adam Weseloh, of Haviland, Bryan Tickle, of Coffeyville, Nathan Troyer, of Osborne, Shawn Troyer, and Stephanie Troyer, both of Manhattan, and Haley Troyer, and Kiley Troyer, both of Ellinwood; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Randy; parents Jerry and Mattie Troyer; brothers John, Mose, Will, and Ora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with Pastor Dale Kauffman presiding. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Minnis Chapel.
