GREAT BEND — Frederick F. Dreiling, 89, died July 27, 2011 at his home.
He was born June 17, 1922 at St. Schoenchen, Kansas, the son of Frederick P. and Christina (Braun) Dreiling.
He married Irene Schmeidler  January 9, 1950 at St. Severin, Kansas. She died July 21, 2009.
Mr. Dreiling was a Great Bend resident since since 1950, coming from Hays. He worked as a mechanic and was head of maintenance  for Ruskin Manufacturing. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army as Corporal, Tech 5. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. He was a member of the Sunflower Polka Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.
Survivors include a son, Daryl P. Dreiling and wife Debra (Stoss), Gardner; two daughters, Florence M. Svoboda and husband Olen, Holyrood; Janice E. Dreiling, Smithville, Mo.; a brother, Tony Dreiling, Lamar, Colo.; 11 grandchildren,  Ryan Dreiling and wife, Carly; Jarrod Dreiling; Grant Dreiling and wife, Jennifer; Garrett Dreiling; Lynn Wagner; Jennifer Gust and husband, Tom;  Audra Robertson;  Dara Griffis and husband Deric; Andrew Svoboda; Janae Svoboda; Leane Wistuba and husband Johnny; five great-grandchildren, Daria Griffis, Ava Dreiling, Devin Robertson, Clara Gust and Anna Gust.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Shaffer, Amelia Berney,  Josephine Major, Louise Leis and Edna Balding
A vigil service with Rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 31 at the Bryant Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend with Father Don Bedore presiding. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemeterywith military honors provided by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorials are suggested to Prince of Peace Parish or D.A.V., in care of the Bryant Funeral Home.
