DODGE CITY — Gary Pickerill, 82, died Sept. 12, 2019 at Fort Dodge. He was born on Feb. 18, 1937 at Hutchinson, Kan. the son of Howard and Myrtle (Bailey) Pickerill.
Gary loved gardening and spending time with his fur babies in his spare time. He worked as a salesman in the appliance business. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Elsie Ploutz on Sept. 5, 1964 in Great Bend, she preceded him on Feb. 13, 2012.
He is survived by one daughter Sandra Burgess and husband Bryan of Minneola; one son Jeff Pickerill of DeSoto, Kan. and two granddaughters Victoria and Elizabeth Burgess. He is also survived by one half sister Dana Kretz of Seattle, Wash. and one step brother Bill Stanley of Great Bend, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Gerald Pickerill; and two step sisters.
Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
