Gary Wayne Mills 1941 - 2020

Gary Wayne Mills, 78, passed away Feb. 9, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, with his family by his side. He was born on Feb. 13, 1941 in St. John, to Lyle Dodge and Virl (Dawson) Mills. He married Carolyn Sue Lightcap on June 4, 1961 at Dodge City. She survives. 

A resident of Great Bend since 1972, Gary previously lived in Dodge City. He was the market manager at Dillons for 44 years, retiring in 2003. He liked to hunt, fish and loved all animals. He enjoyed reading and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.  

Survivors include, his wife Carolyn Sue Mills of the home; a son, Greg Mills and wife Yvette of Scott City; three daughters, Kimberly Blea of Great Bend, Kelly Holopirek, and Kristin Bosley and husband Don, all of Wichita; a brother, Ivan Mills and wife Dixine of Winchester, Kent.; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepmother, Lillie May. 

There will be no visitation or services as cremation has taken place. Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
