BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Gerald Leon Lonnon, 78, Belleville, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Four Fountains Convalescent Center, Belleville.
He was born July 2, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Pearl C. “Pete” and Amelia M. Nee Suchy Lonnon.
Mr. Lonnon was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.; and belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1028. He worked as a mechanic at Scott Air Force Base. He was a member of the Non-Commissioned Officers Association. Gerald was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors are his daughter, Lynn Ann (Terry) Smith, Belleville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Nyla Lonnon, Great Bend; seven grandchildren, David Smith (Brian Bonger), Chicago; Teresa Smith, Belleville, Ill.; Kara Lonnon (Cody Herrman), La Crosse; Amanda Lonnon Weber, Ellinwood; Dawn (Jay) Holloway, Great Bend; Randi (Mike) Legleiter, La Crosse; and Doug Meredith, Stafford; three great-grandchildren, Montana Holloway, Brylee Herrman, and Waylon Weber; his sister, Caraleta P. (Markus) Huslig, Mulvane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann Nee Stueve Lonnon, whom he married on June 10, 1962. She died on May 7, 2006; his son, Eric L. Lonnon; a grandson, Brian E. Lonnon; and his parents, Pearl C. “Pete” and Amelia M. Nee Suchy Lonnon.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
A funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.; for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.
Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
