BAZINE — Glenda M. Koch passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Garden Valley Retirement Center, Garden City. She was born Glenda M. Schneider on July 27, 1924, to John and Bertha (Krug) Schneider on the family farm south of Bazine.
At the age of 18 she started her nurse aide career at Bakers Hospital in LaCrosse. Later she worked at Central Kansas Medical Center and retired in the late 1970s. It was at Bakers she meet Adam Koch while caring for his mother. They were married June 6, 1948. To this union four sons were born.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny (Sharon) of Enterprise, Jim (Jerri) of Pratt, and Jack (Kim) of Garden City; one sister, Jenetta Filbert of Bazine; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jerry, and a sister, Elvira Kerr.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, the Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City. Burial will follow in the Bazine Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Glenda’s name to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Great Bend, or Russell Child Development Center in Garden City, in care of funeral home.
