Glenn L. VanSteenburgh, 74, passed away in Great Bend, Kan. on Dec. 24th, 2019. Born on Dec. 8th, 1945, he was the son of Hiram and Nellie (Strodtmann) VanSteenburgh. A lifetime Barton/Rice County resident he worked as a truck driver. He married Carol Beck in Claflin, Kan. on Aug. 17th, 1968. They were married for 51 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a past member of American Legion Post #180 in Great Bend where he participated in the Patriot guard. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, RC planes, and was an avid HAM radio operator. He was a talented grillmaster and loved to cook.
Survivors include sons, David (Relinda) VanSteenburgh and Michael (Barbara) of Great Bend, Kan.; sister, Kay Dimmitt (Al), Gladstone, Mo.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob VanSteenburgh.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Jan. 17th at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, Kan. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel on Jan. 16th. Inurnment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Ellinwood, Kan. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
