Glenn Ray Steinert 1943 - 2016

Pratt — Glenn Ray Steinert, 73, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2016 at his residence in Pratt. He was born Aug. 20, 1943 to Victor and Goldie (Brehm) Steinert in Great Bend.
Glen had served in the United States Navy and spent most of his career with Missouri Pacific Railroad and Kansas Gas Service.
He loved softball, golf, racing and coaching. Most people knew him as the Rocket or Smokey. His passion for sports was always evident and he knew just about every stat to any sport. It is apparent from the condolences we are receiving that Smokey touched the lives of many people through his coaching and love of sports. There has been one story after another of how he helped and inspired young athletes.
He is survived by his sons, Lance (Shelia) Steinert of Pratt and Chad (Leslie) Steinert of Indianapolis, IN and grandchildren, Ciara Steinert, Tyler Steinert and Jordan Steinert, Brandon (Nicole) LaMar, Thomas LaMar and great grandchildren Ziva, Juliana, and Ashlinn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Viann Steinert.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt,KS with Mary McCune presiding.
