Gordon Schmidt 1924-2012

Gordon Schmidt, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.  Born Sept. 20, 1924, in Barton County, he was the son of Amos and Augusta Rodenberg Schmidt.  A resident of Scott City since 1945, he was a farmer.  On Dec. 9, 1948, he married Jeannine Clinton at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend,Kans.  She survives.  
He was a long time member of the Prairie View Church of the Brethren, a member of the Eagle’s Lodge of Garden City, and The Musketeer’s Flying Club of Scott City.  
Survivors include his wife, Jeannine Schmidt of Scott City; one one, Gary and Sandy Schmidt of Scott City; three daughters, Bernieice and Jim Burch of Spearman, Texas, Carol Schmidt of Scott City, and Marilyn Schmidt and Rick Wright of Scott City; one grandson, Daniel and Kim Schmidt of Blue Rapids and one granddaughter, Tiffany Schmidt of Scott City; and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10 at Praririe View Church of the Brethren in Friend, with Rev. Jon Tuttle officiating.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Interment will be at Prairie View Church of the Brethren Cemetery.  Memorial may be made to Prairie View Church of the Brethren or Scott City EMTs care of Price and Sons Funeral Home.
