GARDNER — Grace Ann McNaney, 62, of Gardner, passed away Jan. 9, 2014 at Meadowbrook Skilled Nursing Hospital.  
Grace was born Nov. 17, 1951 in Battle Creek, Mich., the daughter of Jesse Vincent and Welcome Beatrice (Hanes) Pollard.  
She grew up in Michigan, moved to Arizona and then graduated in 1969 from College High School in Bartlesville, Okla.  Grace earned a bachelor’s degree from American University in Rapid City, S.D. and her teaching certificate from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla.  She earned a master’s in education from MidAmerican Nazarene University in Olathe. She married Thomas R. McNaney on Aug. 9, 1974 in Bartlesville, Okla. They settled in Gardner in August of 1999.  For the last 11 years, she worked at Gardner-Edgerton High School as the graphic design teacher. Before that, Grace worked at Harrison Jr. High, Great Bend Sr. High and Olathe Pioneer Trail. Grace had a passion for teaching and played an active role in her students’ lives. She was a member of the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. Grace loved her family, especially investing in the lives of her grandchildren. Grace’s other love was her Kansas City Royals.  She was dearly loved by family and friends.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Thomas of the home; children, Kandi Lyn (Mark) Molder, Bartlesville, Okla.; DeAnn Rene’ (Josh) Nichols, Muskogee, Okla.; Everette Wade (Jenneffer) McNaney, Gardner; and Danielle Joylene (Joe) Detmer, St. Louis, Mo.; siblings, Daniel Pollard, San Antonio, Texas; Jerald Pollard, Rossville, Ga.; and Ray Pollard, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and seven grandchildren, Cameron, Grant, Luke, KateLyn, Hollie, Kali and Thomas.
Memorial Services are scheduled at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, 18320 W. 175th St, Olathe. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner. Private family inurnment will be at Gardner Cemetery.
