McPHERSON — Harold Dale Reese, 81, of McPherson, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Oct. 16 while in the company of family members at Memorial Hospital, McPherson. Mr. Reese was born in Roxbury on June 28, 1929, the son of Elmer Milo and Anna Marie (Erickson) Reese. Harold attended the Olive Springs Country School and graduated from Roxbury High School, Roxbury.

Mr. Reese was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5222, McPherson. Harold was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715, American Legion Post 24 and the local Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Korean War.

Through the years Harold worked in construction on the air base in Salina and worked for N.C.R.A. of McPherson as an insulator, and retired as an electrician leaderman.

Harold D. Reese was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Petron on Nov. 12, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson. Margaret died Oct. 4, 2010.

Surviving family members include his children, Laura Vogts and her husband Kelly and Mark Reese and his wife Nellie, all of McPherson; his seven grandchildren, Adam Vogts and his wife Heather, Abby Vogts and her boyfriend Taylor Bauer, Landon Vogts, Anna Vogts, Josh Reese, Jacob Reese and Jared Reese; his brother-in-law, LaVerne Tolle of Roxbury and his sisters-in-law Shirley Reese of McPherson and Pat Klusener of Great Bend; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Milo and Clyde Reese, a sister, Peggy Tolle and his wife.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and the Rosary to be at 7:15 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, at 10 a.m. Thursday, with Father David Lies officiating. Final resting place will be the McPherson Cemetery, with members of American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 providing military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They can be sent in care of the Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home.
