LA CROSSE — Harold R. Reifschneider, 88, died July 30, 2012 at Hays Medical Center.
Born Nov. 18, 1923 in Ness City, he was the son of Jake and Mollie (Eckes) Reifschneider. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he was the co-owner of Rush County Livestock Sales for 45 years. He retired in 1988. On Sept. 24, 1945 he married Dorothy Busch at LaCrosse. She preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 1989. He was later married to Joyce Eldridge for 10 years.
Mr. Reifschneider was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include five sons, Bob Reifschneider, LaCrosse; Frank Reifschneider, Garden City; Paul Reifschneider, Ness City; John Reifschneider, Lenexa; and Tom Reifschneider, Overland Park; a brother, LeRoy Reifschneider, LaCrosse; a sister, Helen Appel, Rush Center; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Busch) Reifschneider; a granddaughter, Lindsey Reifschneider; two brothers, Henry Reifschneider and Ed Reifschneider; and four sisters, Katie McMillan, Ida Crotinger, Eshter Murray and Mollie Bott.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will be at the LaCrosse City Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Janousek Funeral Home in LaCrosse with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and from 9 to 9:50 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in LaCrosse. Memorials are suggested to the Rush County EMT’s or Rush County Nursing Home in LaCrosse.
