WICHITA — Herbert Marlin Wong, 87, retired restaurant owner, passed away July 21, 2011.

He was born in Canton Village, Canton, China, on Sept. 7, 1923.

He immigrated to the United States at the age of 13 and settled in San Francisco’s Chinatown with his father and brothers. After serving in the Army, Herbert went to China to marry Ann. They were married 64 years. He worked hard to provide a life for his wife and four children. Herbert was a restaurant entrepreneur. He ran his own businesses in Wichita, McPherson and Great Bend. He was a strong-spirited person, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many people. He will be missed by friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Wong; a daughter, Pearl Moon and husband Vincent and their children, Heather, Kimberly, and Alena; a daughter, Lydia Prichard and husband Ron and their children, Belinda and Chad; a son, Raymond and his children, Lisa, Tiffany and Ryan; a daughter, Jean and her children, Erik, Kimberly and Kevin; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broadway Mortuary. His final resting place will be at Wichita Park Mausoleum. Condolences can be shared at www.CozineMemorial.com.
