GREAT BEND — Hilbert James Herrman, 84, died Dec. 14, 2013 at Great Bend Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 28, 1929 at La Crosse, the son of Wendelin and Dorothy (Herl) Herrman.
Hilbert married Phyllis J. Stone Aug. 16, 1951 at Great Bend. A long-time Great Bend resident, Hilbert was a brick mason, owning and operating Herrman Masonry. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose and Knights of Columbus Council No. 862, both of Great Bend.
Survivors include his wife: Phyllis J. Herrman, of the home;
four sons, Mark J. Herrman and wife Ginger, Great Bend; Tim C. Herrman and wife Chris, Great Bend; Scott D. Herrman and wife Bobbie, Cincinnati, Ohio; Ryan J. Wilson and wife Trish, Wichita; four daughters, Karen M. Bruno, Sigourney, Iowa; Stacie L. Kozlowski and husband Bruce, Larned; Trina L. Detherage and husband Brad, Great Bend; Lori A. Hoffman and husband Steve, Tonkawa, Okla.; two brothers, Linus Herrman, Almo, Texas; Leo Herrman, Great Bend; a sister, Rosalin Herren, Great Bend; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendelin Herrman, Jr. and Thomas Herrman; and four sisters, Leota Sittingdown, Theresa Schartz, Leona Yarmer, and Marie Schartz.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. A Vigil with a Knights of Columbus Rosary is scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryant Funeral Home.
Memorial fund are suggested to the Prince of Peace Altar Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
