LACROSSE — Irene T. Nagel, 90, of La Crosse, died Feb. 24 at the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in La Crosse. Born Oct. 29, 1921, in rural Albert, she was the daughter of Herman Henry Dietrich And Hilda Anna Christina (Tammen) George. She married Virgil H. Nagel on Nov. 8, 1945, at Peace Lutheran Church in Albert. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1987. A resident of La Crosse since May 2006, moving there from Larned, she was a laundress at the Larned State Hospital until her retirement.

Mrs. Nagal was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and church choir member. She was also a member of the Peace Lutheran Church Centennial History Committee, and had served as its chairwoman.

Survivors include one brother, LoRay D. George, La Crosse, formerly of Albert, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Laurel George, Lloyd George, and LaVern George; and two sisters, Irma G. Ell and Deborah Rose Petersen.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church in Albert, with the Rev. Patricia Reep officiating. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Albert. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Church visitation will be from 9-9:50 a.m. Monday in Albert. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, or the Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse, Kansas.
