GREAT BEND — Iris R. House, 71, passed away December 6, 2019, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born on November 19, 1948, at Wichita to Russell J. & Wilma I. (Smith) Paris. She married Martin House on October 21, 1978, at Great Bend and spent 41 years together. 

Coming from Russell in the 1960s, Iris was a Great Bend resident. She was the computer operator at Fuller Brush for 15 years and then retired from Bird Oil after 10 years. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and was in the United States Navy from 1970-1973. She enjoyed reading, sewing and painting but especially loved being with her grandchildren.  

Survivors include, her husband Martin of the home; two daughters, Amber McHenry of Great Bend and Kelly Horning and husband Abe of Salina; two stepsons, Brian House and wife Molly of Fort Hood, Texas, and Michael House and wife Debbie of Harbor Beach, Mich.; and eight grandchildren, Sydni, Rylan, Autumn, Ashlind, Wyatt, Dylani, David and Claudia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Wilma Paris. 

Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019, at First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Tim Singleton presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
