LARNED — Jacquelynn Murphy Schulze, 75, of Overland Park, KS, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jacque was born on March 6, 1942 in Larned, Kansas. After graduating from Larned High School in 1960, her career took her to Kansas City for ten years, followed by 20 years in Dallas working in healthcare administration. She then returned home to Larned, KS, where she worked as a caretaker for Mrs. Joe Lewis before serving several years in the Pawnee County Courthouse, and was then elected Register of Deeds for 3 terms, covering 12 years. After retiring in 2013, she moved to Overland Park, KS where she spent her final years enjoying some of her favorite things-shopping and dining out.
Jacque was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Leona Murphy, Larned, grandparents James & Clara Byrum and John & Elizabeth Murphy, her niece, Debra Bruce-Brenton and two sister-in-laws, Connie Murphy and Janet Murphy.
She is survived by her brother, Melvin (June) Murphy, Larned, two sisters, Derinda (Glenn) Folkerts, Great Bend, and Ruth (Max) Bruce, Leawood; her beloved nieces and nephews: Marie Schmidtberger, Winfield: Shawn (Dawn) Smyth, Larned; Cathy (Lance) DeMond, Larned; Kris (Sunni) Smyth, Scot City; Russell (Gina) Smyth, Larned; Melissa (Darin) Hoogendoorn, Lantana, TX; Michael Folkerts, Great Bend; Lori Kohls, Great Bend; Kevin (Lacy) Bruce, Eudora; Krystal (Deron) Carlis, Olathe; Jayna (Kenny) Ross, Broken Arrow, OK; and Julie (Clay) Whitmire, Tulsa, OK; 30 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.
Jacque inspired those around her with her persistence, strength, and sense of humor. The celebration of Jacque’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Larned United Methodist Church, Larned with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
