SALINA — James Edward “Jim” Bauer, 72, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, June 30th, 2019.
He was born in Manning, Iowa on Sept. 17, 1946, a son of the late Wilheminia (Minnie) Ann (Berning) and Nicholas H. Bauer.
Jim attended high school in Bayard, Iowa and went on to be a banker in Ellinwood and Great Bend, Kan. for many years, and was very active in his community. He was most recently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Janet Marie (Horak) Bauer; son, Michael Bauer of Hastings, Neb.; daughter, Kimberly DuBois of Windsor, Colo.; and Jan’s children, Kristi Shulda (Damon) of Salina; Todd Gillette (CeCe) of Kansas City, Mo., and Daryl Gillette of Overland Park, Kan.; brothers, Donald Bauer of Coon Rapids, Iowa, Edward Bauer of Bennington, Neb., Leland Bauer of Lincoln, Neb., and Robert Bauer of Omaha, Neb.; and sister, Arlene Klapperich of Lincoln, Neb. He is also survived by ten grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Bauer; brother, Richard Bauer; and sister, Lois Shirbroun.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 6th at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church 302 S. 7th Street, Salina, Kan., with Rev. Ed Foster officiating. At Jim’s request, please dress casually. Inurnment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital of Memphis, Tenn., sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina, KS. 67401.
