James L. Blakey 1935-2013

James L. Blakey, 77, died Feb. 17, 2013 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. He was born July 28, 1935 at Great Bend, the son of William and Esther (Langrehr) Blakey.
He married Dorothy Parker in June, 1970 at Hoisington. She died March 3, 1973. He was a Juvenile Corrections Case Worker for Larned State Hospital.
Mr. Blakey was a lifetime Great Bend resident and a U.S. Army veteran.  
He is survived two step-daughters, Dorsha Ratledge and husband L. J. of Great Bend; Debbie Brown and husband Sequoyah of Booker, Texas; one sister, Janis Blakey of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and six grandchildren, Kelly Shull, Tina Shull, Adam Shull, Sunny Merrill, Chelsey Brown, and Shaley Brown; and eleven great-grandchildren, Kayli Marie, Kynli, Courtney, Tailyn, Adrian, Kristopher, Logan, Tobin, Kaitlyn, Sloan, and Ruby.
Memorial service is at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
