GREAT BEND — James White, 97 died Sept. 8, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Sept. 8, 1915 at Winfield, he was the son of Frank L. and Zella Myrtle (Hutto) White. He married Opal Spittler on Jan. 2, 1937 at Wellington. She died March 7, 2005. In 2008, he moved to Great Bend from Anthony and Erie, Kansas.
Mr. White was a long time resident of the City of Anthony. There, he served as the City Superintendent, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Anthony. He was a 50-year member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons: Gary White and wife Loretta, Louisville, Ky., and Arden White and wife Sherry, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter: Joyce Boos and husband Thomas, Great Bend; one sister: Zoa Berniece Manny, Winfield; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank E. White.
Graveside service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford with the Reverend Terry McGuire officiating. Interment will be at Oxford Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Bryant Funeral Home.
